Ever since I was a kid, I have been fascinated with the animal kingdom and the beauty of the natural world. Art has also been a lifelong love of mine. I went from drawing with markers and pencils to becoming skilled in a variety of mediums. For this piece, I explored the theme of putting animals in habitats where they don't belong. The butterfly is depicted interacting with its new environment, using its natural strengths to find success and happiness even in an unnatural location. My hope is that through my artwork people will become just as fascinated with nature as I am, and that as a result, they will be inspired to help save it. I also hope that the idea of animals thriving in unusual locations will give viewers hope that they, too, can find success, even when their circumstances are not ideal.
