Story behind the name.

Obi-Wan Kenobi at first seems to be an odd name for a Bora, but if you look at the design and think about 1977 it makes sense. The first thing that came to my mind when I but the back up on the Bora was “Wow that’s a Tie fighter from Star Wars”.

I have to say this is one of my favorite cars I have photographed over the years. It was this car where I became acutely aware of the designer residing in the lines. This designer just happens to have been named the Car Designer of the Century in 1999, Giorgetto Giugiaro.

With production of the Bora beginning in 1971, you have to wonder if the set designers at Industrial Light and Magic took their styling cues for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Tie Fighter from Giugiaro.
