Marbe came to Würzburg in 1896 to help his friend Oswald Külpe set up the new institute. It was Marbe who initiated together with two of his doctoral students the first experiments on the Würzburg school of thought, published by Meyer and Orth in 1901. In the same year, Marbe published a second work of the Würzburg school, his examinations on judgment.
