Artist Statement
Dreams of a beautiful pregnancy and baby can be destroyed by syphilis—a sexually transmitted infection that is currently running rampant in Canada. Syphilis was almost eliminated a decade ago; therefore it’s catching people off guard, resulting in deleterious effects to newborns. Awareness, prevention, screening and early treatment with an antibiotic are essential to eliminate harm. Women can be supported with outreach programs that offer rapid diagnostic testing, treatment and follow-up.

Biography
Kim Neudorf has been a member of Patients for Patient Safety Canada since 2009. She is an amateur watercolour artist and enjoys painting landscape scenes of Canada’s boreal forest and the Saskatchewan prairies.
