Motion Lab
150 x 100 x 2.5 cm (h x w x d)

A setup with a motion platform used for research on and exposure-based therapy of flight phobia. The system comprises a Virtual Reality (VR) simulation of a commercial flight presented via a head-mounted display (HMD), including acoustic stimuli and simulated plane movements. During exposure, participants are immersed in the virtual cabin of a plane from an ego perspective, which enables them to look around and, for instance, out of the windows. The system allows to simulate different scenarios, including the start, flight and landing of the plain and potential events in the air, like turbulences. (Workgroup: VR-Labs)
