The new premises of the Psychological Institute at Domerschulstraße 13 have a long history. The history of the building goes back to the 17th century. It was built in 1616 by the later Würzburg bishop J.G. von Aschhausen, whose coat of arms is displayed above the archway. At the beginning of the 20th century, the building was purchased by the university.
It was completely destroyed except for the facade by the devastating air raid of March 16, 1945.
In the cellar of the building, as well as in the cellars of the Old University, the Jewish wine merchant Max Stern stored numerous wine barrels. Some of them can still be seen in the photos of the reconstruction of the building in the fifties.
