This full-length, black evening gown was designed by Cydney Mar in 1980. It shows that Cydney was very familiar with and inspired by the Western fashion of the time. Evening dresses in the 1980s demonstrated a revival of French couture. The period-defining features include glittering embroidery, elaborate beadings and sequins. The fabrics of the dresses are often decorated with printed or woven designs. Cydney’s dress echos the glamorous trend of the period. She states that the goal of her collections was to understand what women wanted and what clothes would make them feel beautiful and celebrated in their daily lives. She named this concept “everyday fabulous”.
