I wanted to explore how my family got here in Canada by diving into our old photo albums and picking photos that represent important moments in my parents life pertaining to their migration outside of Pakistan.
I started with my parents wedding photo, the days before they moved to the UK, a photo of my dad standing in front of a sign that I've blocked out, and lastly a photo of me with 3 of my cousins during our first visit to Pakistan.
I printed the photos out onto fabric and then embroidered details onto them, highlighting parts of the photos and adding text to contextualize the images.
