Artist Statement:
Inkpa Mani grew up in the lands now known as Chihuahua Mexico, and Minnesota. He earned his BFA at the University of South Dakota in 2019. His work uses social engagement to share messages of Indigenous life . Inkpa is a multi-discipline artist and academic. Inkpa works in stone, paint, paper, and digital media to explore his culture. His process involves oral histories, institutional research, and critical theory to highlight the concerns of his people. Inkpa utilizes every day Indigenous people to reclaim and reframe a more accurate version of 21st century Native culture. As an artist, Inkpa continue to enrich the continuum of Indigenous art that has continued to evolve for thousands of years. His influences come from his Dakota, Aztec and Tarahumara family.
