COLLAGE AND MIXED MEDIA

This piece was inspired by the main character of a South-Korean drama. She is a successful businesswoman who navigates the cut-throat, male-dominated business industry and yet manages to remain unflappable, poised, and polished. She serves as an example to young girls everywhere. I used gold paper and carefully used black sharpie for the frames and body of sunglasses. The sunglasses represent the persona she represents to the world while her true self remains intact behind the stern exterior. I used different textures, colours, and blending techniques to put it all together. I tried to blend the pastels in a way that made it look like it’s brush strokes. I used various textures to represent her multifaceted personality. I created this art to express that every single person has hidden dreams, hidden potential, and a hidden story. Art has the potential to strip away the exterior and reveal the true painting underneath.
