Sometimes, drones are simply in the right place at the right time and are able to capture a momentary view brought about by certain weather or light conditions. The effects of sun, wind, rain or snow can alter the way we understand a landscape and even transform seemingly mundane views into spectacular sights.

This dramatic image captures the moment when early morning waves crash against the sea walls at the Waterpark in St. Ouen’s Bay in Jersey. From this angle, the drone captures the explosion of vivid colours in the water from white to a prism of purples, blues and greens that could not be seen from ground level. The subtle textures and layers caught by the camera’s lens turn the still image into a moving picture, a spectacle that captures the raw dynamism of the sea.
