Nishimoto uses digital tools to compose elements such as figures and backgrounds, and creates scenes that evoke human interaction and movement. In his recent works, he takes the perspective of “staged objects” and “devices for staging,” and by looking through multiple works (scenes), he expresses in a series of works what could not be judged from a single scene alone and the possibilities that may extend to the outer realm. The relationship between the two is the video work itself and the filming set in video production. In the performing arts, it is the stage direction and the stage set. The difference in perspective has a similar feeling to that of information and trimmed fake news or memes in mass media. The “staged object” and the “device for staging,” which may be in the same space or nearby, can be seen very differently with a slight change in perspective.
Nishimoto expresses the importance of perceiving things from multiple perspectives through staged scenes.
