Quarantine Dream (The First Time I Saw Your Ghost) , 2020
Long exposure digital photography

Throughout the pandemic, I found myself stuck in the United States, unable to return to life in Germany. Over the course of some months there, I produced a number of self-portraits, something which I had not worked much with before.
Themes of loss, boredom, nostalgia, regret, and conflicting emotions are present in the works, as I tried to visually represent and work through a complicated mix of feelings as I experienced them in relative isolation.
I experimented with a number of techniques: long exposure, collage, double exposure, use of archival personal images, and writing.
This is a selection of 4 of those self-portraits.
