This is a view I often look at, and often paint. With Glastonbury Tor in the distance and Cley Hill visible behind it seems to be on natural ‘songline’ for me connecting places that I know. The site for Glastonbury Festival can be seen where I have worked every year it was on since 1992. The ‘Mary’ current of the St Michael alignment passes through here too.

There is a closeness to the wilderness often found in rural England, although often built over or farmed it’s still there in many places but hidden from view. Current times have meant we urgently need to rediscover our part in the scheme of things.
