In Mandalay, a city located in the central part of Myanmar, there is a dye house that makes colored paper, "Sakku," as it is called in Burmese. I was told it would be used as wrapping paper for sweets and as a material to cover lanterns offered in religious ceremonies. The white paper is dipped into colorful dyes and dried in the sun until it is ready. The people of Myanmar seem to prefer vivid hues which are close to primary colors such as red and blue.
