Dia de los Muertos is a day to celebrate the dead. In my painting, "Gods Are Not Immortal" I want to challenge the narrative that even the gods die and we should celebrate them. Death should not be the end, but the beginning of another life. The dead have awaken to celebrate and to contribute to life by watering the Nopal. In this painting the ancestors are celebrating with us and cheering us on in life.
