Not titled depicts fellow studio artist Malcolm Sturrock at his 2019 solo exhibition. In characteristic form, Tia has captured a precise and particular moment in time; the artist proudly posing for a photograph.

Amani Tia is an emerging artist with a distinctive drawing and painting style that is impacted by his immediate environment. With a natural aptitude for drawing, he's enjoyed early success in the reinterpretation of iconic paintings by the great masters before focusing on artists and musicians from the 1950s-1970s. Always carrying a sketchbook, his current focus is on observational drawing, capturing people and places 'in the moment'.

Tia has worked at Arts Project Australia since 2013 and was a finalist in the Victorian Indigenous Art Awards in 2014. In 2017, he undertook a Bundoora Nebula Residency at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre. His work is held in private collections Australiawide.
