"Indulgence" of Persephone , 2020
13 x 13 in (h x w)
Digital

Who better to represent the misguided connection between weight and indulgence than Persephone, who herself “indulged” in four too many pomegranate seeds. Diet culture tells people to limit and watch what they’re eating, that it’s cheating if one strays from the plan, that it’s better to go hungry than to listen to your body-trust it knows what it wants, and I do mean want. Our bodies’ are allowed to want things, to have cravings, it is not only acceptable for people with idealized figures.
