Daphne is a character that I almost gave up on growing up. I have had her about as long as Alvires, but something about her didn't work. She was a plant associated character who's only real character trait was that she was shy. I don't know what attachment it was that lead me to keep her with me all the way into college. A part of me didn't want to give up on this little shy girl. And I think it was because of how it reflected my own introversion. I have such a hard time initiating conversation and connections with people that I don't know, and this made finding friends pretty difficult my freshman year. And it was that year that I revisited Daphne. I realized how I had put Daphne into a box based on her being the "shy girl." There is more personality to a shy person, however, and that was something I had to realize. This then lead to me adding more of myself to her that would fit her nature roots too, my love of animals, and the kind of clear headedness that comes with insight of the quiet of the forest. What started as a character on the brink of being scrapped quickly became a character that became close to my heart.
