Entry, 2021

Confocal image of stomata (gas exchange pores) in an Arabidopsis thaliana epidermis. Magenta false-coloration shows the membranes of individual stomata guard cells: curved cells that control the opening and closure of each pore aperture. This plant contains a genetic mutation which causes every cell in the epidermis to become a paired-cell pore. Captured on a Leica LSM 700 Confocal microscope at UT Austin.
