Solveig's Flowers | Les fleurs de Solveig , 2013
16 x 30.6 in (h x w)
mixed media sculpture

Solvieg’s Flowers (2013) is my most favourite and personal flower sculpture, as it is made with part of my deceased mother’s titanium hip joint. The flowers are hand cut from several hospital-issued turquoise plastic containers that littered her last room.

Tara K Wells is a Maritime Canadian artist and designer. Her multidisciplinary art practice includes new media installations, animations, prints, drawing, kinetic and static sculptures, and most recently, quilts. In her efforts to make as small a dent on the planet as possible, she prefers to work with recycled materials, or as she likes to say: breaking down the broken-down and building with the bits. She has had several gallery and festival exhibitions of her installation works, and her animations have been screened around the world.
