Growth From Pain | La croissance à partir de la douleur
20 x 16 x 1 in (h x w x d)
Acrylic on canvas

Creating art has been a crucial part of my journey as a patient, allowing me to process grief and celebrate healing.

Severine is from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and currently resides in Ottawa, Ontario with her partner TJ. Her mother is an artist, as was her grandfather. Growing up, she was always encouraged to draw, paint, sing and create. For over a decade she has performed vocals and bass guitar, touring Canada and co-writing three self-released albums with punk band Slumlord. As a recent day hospital psychotherapy patient, the treatment and support she received from Ottawa health care workers has been invaluable. Severine's
path to recovery continues, with a passion for changing the stigma surrounding mental illness through visual art.
