"Do you adore the green grass, with its terror beneath?" - Mary Oliver

Inspired by the Surrealists' ideas of symbolism and particularly entranced by Les Nabis depictions of nature, my work explores recurring themes of redemption, grace, and metamorphosis. Dreamlike, dark and haunting, my continuing series of digital collages feature garden debris, detritus, and the bodies of birds, captures a host of ideas. Birth. Transference. Waste. Something in the corner of the shed tucked away for further reflection. Questions of origin and order and the ultimate destruction of myths. Celebrations without champagne or fanfare. The continuous cycle of verdure and decay.

I am hopeful that the current popularity of NFTs will be the tipping point that finally introduces digital art as fine art to a larger audience - similar to the transition from impressionism to abstract art and symbolism - and I believe there is space for romantic, symbolist works in the cryptorealm.
