It's a Bird in the Hand After All

Art is my way of communication and expression. I endeavor to capture a wondrous glimpse of a moment held in time and share it with the viewer. During the pandemic, I have been re-learning pencil drawing and have many drawing model statues in my studio because of it. I loved the idea of incorporating the wooden hand as a perch for a goldfinch, whose springtime song is very uplifting, and placing them on a stack of books, which are always plentiful in my home. The process of titling a work is sometimes a challenge for me, but working on this piece and finding a play on words for its name was a joyful process.
