Flautino: Figure from the Commedia dell’Arte , 1985
29.3 x 22.9 cm (h x w)
Oil Paint and Collage

Collection: Max Saunders
© Estate of Alfred Cohen 2020

Cohen continued producing paintings and drawings on commedia dell’arte themes until the mid-1960s. In the mid-1980s, he returned to the subject, producing more stylized works in his later style of flatter, but highly patterned brushwork. Flautino is unusual for its use of collage was well as paint. Cohen also used this composition in a screenprint.
