This mixed media piece makes use of cultural references recombined to present a new message. Combined in the imagery are abstracted elements, DaVinci’s Vitruvian Man, and a compass rose, all overlaid on a print of a nautical map. The idea behind this is that culture provides the navigational guidance for both a society and the individual. When cultural references begin to be obscured, both the society and the individual are in danger of becoming lost.
