Lillian Ho Wong at Sixteen , 1911
Photograph
[2008-010.3743 ]

This photograph shows Lillian Ho Wong at the age of sixteen. The image was originally black and white but was partially coloured to provide a lively appearance. The colouration process added rouge on Lillian’s cheeks and lips to reflect the makeup aesthetics of the Western Edwardian fashion. Here, Lillian wears a timepiece on her neck and one on her wrist.
