New Life

Bio: I am a veteran, originally from Hartford, Connecticut. I grew up in the same neighborhood and have a sister and brother. I am also a father to three beautiful daughters.

My career beginnings were as a Law Enforcement Officer in Virginia for 11 years. I Joined the Army in 1998 where I was a Reservist and then moved full-time in 2007. My primary service career was “Combat Camera and Video Production 25V.” This gave me the opportunity to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, and a peace keeping conflict in Bosnia.

I was instrumental in providing photography and videos which enabled the Army’s mission to be more effective and have accurate knowledge of what the issues were in these countries.

Unfortunately, I suffered a full blast during combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. These incidents resulted in TBI/PTSD/DISH [Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis] causing me to cut my military career short.

At the present I am enjoying the life of arts which are like my therapy. Yet, once a soldier, I will always remain a soldier and proud to serve my Country!

Impact art has made: Art has made me discover the talent that I never realized I had. This makes me relax a lot, stay out of my combat flashbacks, and share with my family [especially with my little 4yr old daughter]. I also can create anything and express what I want.

My creations will be unique making me feel proud of the accomplishments. They keep me busy and make me feel important. When I participate in Art exhibits, it makes me feel wanted. I really love arts!

New Beginnings: A beautiful sunny day with the blue sky, after the storm in the desert where the rain gives life to the desert. The cactus are blooming and the coyotes don’t have to look far for water. After the storm in the desert, everything rejuvenates to new life. As plants bloom and animals don’t have to go far for water, starting a “New Beginning” with life.

Piece created with: To create my project I used a 11x14 canvas, a wood frame, acrylics paintings, and brushes. In creating this piece, I looked at some photos ending with my own creation adding my memories from my last post in Ft Irwing, CA (NTC) in one of the storms days there in the middle of the desert.
