Untitled , 2020

This piece shows a bunny character of Zai’s crying on a table. The anxiety of the artist shows through in a meta sense that is not usually presented. The product of the anxieties felt is the artwork the viewer is looking at. The humour in Zai’s work is often made through a response from a character- an offstage character in this piece. No matter the melancholy ideas shown through the artwork, the humour used gives it a sense of relatability to the viewer. This relatable humour is a product of popularized artworks, an open platform for any artist to show their work, and for masses of people to make them popular.
