Paul Tuttas explores the possibilities of combining different printing techniques through displaying atmospheric landscapes.
Tuttas uses the monotype as a foundation of his multi-colored prints. The landscape is then further discovered through layers of woodcut, thereby revealing different moods of the space. The combination of these two techniques allows the artist to show the full potential of printmaking. Not seen as a medium of reproduction, his works stand as an art piece in their own right.
His recent prints show different landscapes that the artist visited. Whether it is a life path we must take or an event we look back to - through these prints the artist shows the viewer a familiar place but does not allow him to know where he stands himself.
Tuttas graduated from the university of Regensburg, Germany in the BA of Fine Arts and Aesthetic Education in 2021 with a focus on printmaking. He currently studies the MA program at the UMPRUM in Prague in the atelier of illustration and graphic.
He collaborated with Johannes Steubl for the exhibition “AW: Transfragmentierte” at the alternative exhibition space neunkubikmeter in Regensburg.
