Kasia Fabijańska works predominantly in intaglio printmaking, drawing and mixed media focusing on the various things that relate humanity to nature whether they be political, personal or cultural.
In her practice the wild landscape holds a special purpose as not a place devoid of human presence, but a place where one can go while standing still in it. Tied to environmental concerns, it is a study of the value of what wilderness offers in enriching the human experience.
The alpine landscape in her recent body of work transitions from the familiar to the suggestive. There is a purpose to the abstract elements of the compositions to render the experiential through rhythmic lines, altered perspective and use of voids.
Fabijańska was born in Poland and lived for a short time in Germany before arriving in Australia in 1986 with her family. She holds a Master in Visual Arts - Printmedia, (Monash, 2012) and a B.A. in Fashion Design (RMIT, 2000).
Fabijanska has shown regularly in solo and group exhibitions, most recently: Geelong Acquisitive Print Awards (Geelong, 2021), North 2021 (Melbourne), Untitled 2020 (Sydney, 2020), Dark Ink (Melbourne, 2019).
Her work is held in private and public collections including the Gippsland Art Gallery and the Australian Print Workshop.
