Maite Cascon's practice is based on figurative etching works, full of symbolic references influenced by psychoanalysis and folk tales.
In her artistic process, she uses drawing on different semi-transparent papers which she overlaps to create surreal and hybrid characters within a dreamy space that later on transfers to a series of etchings.

The topics of her work explore the fragility of the body and the mind through the Jungian archetypes. Embracing metaphors, myth and symbolic language her work tries to re-establish a connection between the conscious and unconscious.

Her recent works are inspired by storytelling and ancient mythology from the country she was born, Spain.
She plays with the idea of a sacred tree as an onlooker presence where mysterious figures invite the viewer to analyse its deepest thoughts and its inherited cultural behaviour.

In 2017 Maite Cascon graduated with an MA in Print from the Royal College of Art. The same year she won the SWA Fine Art Young Artists Award at Mall Galleries, was selected in the Young Contemporary Talent Purchase Prize of the Ingram Collection and won the Gwen May RE Graduate Award from the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. More recently she won the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair Prize 2020.
Highlighted exhibitions include the London Original Print Fair with The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers at the Royal Academy, Society of Women Artists Summer Exhibition, ING Discerning Eye 2020, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair
