Paul Hawdon’s main form of expression is with etching. He has a great love of drawing, using the simplicity of line and mark, with their infinite abilities to define and express. Each etching is a gradual process of exploration and contemplation and can take many months to come to a resolution. The aim is to make marks until the etching starts to reveal directions of development that are surprising and take him on an unexpected journey.

Paul Hawdon studied at Saint Martin's School of Art, with 3 years postgraduate study at the Royal Academy Schools of Art, after which he was awarded an Italian Government Scholarship. Following this he was awarded the Prix de Rome in Printmaking.

Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
