My connection to the Afro-Latin and Afro-Caribbean diaspora has always been deep-rooted. Black people enrich the fabric of culture, custom and convention wherever we have come to reside. Les Bananes, which employs a dry brush technique with acrylic paint, lays bare my affectionate view of island life. How it brims, preens with tropical beauty, both of its people and the animals. The piece also captures the enduring simplicity of country living, something that we all perhaps thirst for, certainly more so as time goes by.
