Inspiration-Inspired by the Greek goddess Gaia (Mother Nature). She is the personification of the entire Earth'secosystem, working to achieve and maintain harmony, wholeness and balance within theenvironment. Mother Nature heals, nurtures and supports all life on this planet. This is a homage tothe ultimate life-giving goddess, celebrating our connection with the environment, the harmony,balance and continuity of Life on Earth.Technique-Convergent Camouflage (Ode To Gaia)was created byconstructing a hand-cut collage using femalephotographic portraiture, illustrations of a bird and topography of the world/ maps.After coating the handmade paper with light-sensitive chemistry, it is left to dry in a dark room. Thelarge-scale negative is contact printed onto the paper by exposure to daylight (UV rays). The print isthen processed by thoroughly washing in water to remove any unexposed solution. It can then behung to dry, developing to full density Prussian blue after 24 hours. Once the image is fixed it is handfinished with 24-carat gold leaf.
