Inspired by mathematician, writer and 'First Lady' of computer programming Ada Lovelace. Avisionary who gave us a first glimpse of the idea of universal computation, Lovelace was drawn toabstract ways of thinking using ‘poetical science.’ Her thwarted potential, passion and imaginativeintuition, have made her a powerful symbol for modern women in technology
Technique:
Enchantress Of Number XS (Ode To Ada Lovelace)wascreated by constructing a hand-cut collageusing female photographic portraiture, photographs of an antique tin toy horse and photograms of insectwings.After coating the handmade paper with light-sensitive chemistry, it is left to dry in a dark room. The largescale negative is then contact printed onto the paper by exposing to daylight (UV rays). The print is thenprocessed by thoroughly washing in water to remove any unexposed solution. It can then be hung to dry,developing to full density Prussian blue after 24 hours.
