This is a pair of pierced, asymmetrical earrings of different sizes and designs. Both earrings have straight centre shafts with glass beads that are blue, purple and turquoise. Glass beads are also named Tibetan miracle beads. On the other hand, the asymmetrical design was a popular fashion trend in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This pair belonged to Linda Tzang, a first-generation Chinese Canadian who immigrated to Canada from Taiwan at five. Linda states that she avoids wearing Chinese jewelry up until her forties. She thinks ethnic jewelry makes certain statements that are political and disturbing. Thus, as a young adult, Linda chose aesthetically pleasing pieces that interest her. However, Linda now would wear specific Chinese jewelry as a memorial of her family members.
