The horse/human relationship provides endless possibilities for the artist/photographer. By documenting horses' physical lives (anatomy/movement, etc.), personalities (especially shown in facial expressions), and the bonds between horse and human (sometimes as a rider, sometimes as a companion) we record the ways in which horses enchant us. When we enter their mainly quiet, sensory world, we come to understand what it means " to live in the moment". We learn how to be a kind, supportive partner, accomplishing challenging/rewarding goals together. While our points of view may differ (even in the way horses actually see the world), the more we work with and closely observe them, not just by seeing, but by using all the senses, we (humans) then experience the world through their eyes. We begin to sense their bravery, athleticism, determination, honesty, and empathy. If we are lucky, these characteristics in turn become a part of us.
