The black fly is an annual pest in Spring/early Summer in much of Maine. This piece is one gigantic black fly made of tulle netting and novelty fabric with free-floating wings superimposed on a background of the traditional Shoo Fly block pattern. Clusters of black beads were added to simulate the hoards of these insects that plague gardeners, hikers, and anyone else who dares to venture outside.
