“Ashurbanipal is one of the great kings in the history of humanity who vitally cared about scribal education. He declared this in his famous saying.: “I Ashurbanipal... took care of the wisdom of Nebo, the whole of the inscribed tablets, of all the clay tablets, the whole of their mysteries and difficulties, I solved.” I believe Ashurbanipal is the best character of the Enlightenment in the Assyrian Civilization. With knowledge, education, and wisdom, he was able to convey a great message of Enlightenment, and illumination of our great culture and civilization. I included some Assyrian elements in my painting. However, I emphasized the theme of the library of Ashurbanipal by the pages pattern that I repeated in many parts of the painting. Moreover, I wrote the first and last letter in the Assyrian alphabet, which I hid within the details of the figures.”

Qais Al-Sindy was born in Baghdad. In 2000, he received a Bachelor of Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts from Baghdad University and in 2004 he received his MFA (Masters in Fine Arts) from the same school. His work explores the world we are living in and the inner feelings of humanity and how they connect to each other through various beliefs, mentalities and politics. He has participated in several solo exhibitions and group shows in the USA and Middle East.
