Archaeologists estimate that dogs have been domesticated for over 10,000 years, in Mexico at least for 3000 years. Colima dogs were special hairless breeds, kept in Mexico during the Aztec times. Some were pets, some were food, and they also served as burial companions in the form of such clay dog figures.
