Artist Statement

This image was taken in autumn at Tommy Thompson Park. The main focus of this image is the boat in Lake Ontario passing through with the Toronto skyline in the background. The sunset is made up with a lot of warm/soft colours, while the cityscape/trees/boats are made up with cooler/dark colours.

My plan when taking this photo was to get a sunset shot of the Toronto skyline with part of the lake frame. I remember taking many, many shots of this scene and trying different angles/spots along the lake. When I came up to this spot, I was taking a bunch of photos when I noticed a boat passing through, I waited until the boat came closer into frame and got this shot.

I really enjoy the beauty of sunsets and I like to capture the beauty of them. I love watching the sun go down and seeing what colours the sky will produce, I find this very calming and peaceful feeling/mood to them.
