Artist Statement

This image was inspired by a movie called Stargate (1994). I was always curious of Ancient Egypt. The film did an amazing job on wardrobe and make up. I wanted to recreate that look so I went to a value village and found random pieces that could work. I shot this using window light and a bounce card. I used Photoshop to create a hand tattoo, which is actually the beadwork at bottom of the bracelet that was cropped out. I created different layers to reposition the beads on my hand and created texture shadows to make it realistic.

Artist Bio

Patricio Lara has been fortunate enough to have visited 30 countries. He comes from a military background which included a deployment. Being able to travel and meet people from all walks of life is where his story telling and documentation style really took form.

Patricio was born in the United States, mainly raised in New Jersey but lived in Brooklyn NY and Virginia Beach. He started his media career in the military working with public affairs, providing content for the US Navy’s social media platforms. After the military, he came to Humber College to study Photography.
