STORY:
The town of Kingston was founded on March 6th 1788 by Lieutenant Philip Gidley King. Twenty-two passengers (including 9 male and 6 female convicts) landed that day from HMS Supply. Polynesians had been there prior to the British but had moved on. Kingston has a very rich history, and I was fascinated by the tales I heard. The old building and the abandoned long boats help give a connection to the past. And great foreground interest like this makes it a photographer’s dream. This day, I arrived well before first light, as I love seeing a new day dawn. With the last stars twinkling in the sky, and pastel hues heralding the sunrise, this was the moment I was waiting for. What a way to start a day!
