This is one of ten clay sculptures I created after my ProjectArt students’ self-portraits. The alcove in which this portrait is both a sculptural answer to the space of the page on which the portrait was drawn. Containing the torso and head, the alcove also recalls the zoom squares through which I encountered the students.
