CountrySideSpecial: Tanya Raabe-Webber
A fusion of digital and traditional portraiture in a series of Shropshire landscapes, featuring views of the Shropshire Hills and locations within a 10 mile radius of Tanya’s Art Studio. This project draws particular attention to the pandemic's impact on the limited mobility of Disabled people in these extraordinary times!
CountrySideSpecial views reimagined include the Nills, Pontesbury Hill, Earl's and Pontesford Hill, Poles Coppice, Stiperstones all ability trail, Lyth Hill and Mitchell’s Fold Stone Circle.
This collection sees Tanya refocus on new themes within her work, fusing digital and traditional paintings from a series of plein air live paintings and self portraits created directly on location. She then explored new creative experimental processes in the studio. These included image transfer and metal leaf gilding, culminating in an evocative and thought providing collection.
Each artwork is accompanied by a narrative image description by Tanya, giving you insight into the artist’s interpretation of her work.
As you look around this exhibition you will also hear in the background a collection of sounds recorded directly from the locations where Tanya painted. Sounds include: British bird song, cuckoos, crows, woodland birds, power chair clicks and wheels on gravel, kissing gate opening and closing, water trickling and sheep bleating in the distance.
