“VOID” swans , 2022

Level 2 Art
Griff’s proposal stated that, “I would like to explore the idea of freedom within limitations and progressive abstraction. By imposing limitations on yourself, you can create beautiful art which expands and stretches your creative ability. Having constraints means you have to be more flexible in your thinking to work within them. I would like to impose limitations on myself and focus my creative energy. The purpose of this project is to try and push myself to create beautiful art in a non-traditional way by limiting my use of colour, lines and shapes”.
After a superb array of samples and development, Griff achieved exactly that by using his first hand observations of Swans, to create a truly progressive work of art. Part of his concluding statement summed up the outcome;
“The composition of three swans was to give the piece a more interesting composition, the loops symbolise introspection and the infinite depth of the creative process. The forms merge and separate to make swans, which represent grace and inspiration”.
Those who know the artists Matisse and Henry Moore will instantly recognise the inspirations here. Developed with a good eye for artists interpretations and concepts, you really captured from start to finish what you set out to achieve Griff. Sculpture being a surprise element and one that developed simultaneously with your experimentation and was a great final choice for you. Beautifully done, skilfully created and one that came from your first hand studies with perfection. Congratulations on a superb project and outcome
