ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

Photography

During the pandemic, with much uncertainty in the world and escalated isolation, Aziz found himself struggling to stay inspired as a creative. However, it was during this time that his interest in water droplet photography developed. It compelled him to not only create powerful visuals, but to learn and master a new skill.

Through this imagery, Aziz strives to showcase the power of a single action as represented by the water droplet, and how it can create a powerful ripple effect. Symbolically, how one individual can make a choice that will affect broader humanity, either in a positive or negative way, and significantly, how that ripple will continue to affect others. In other words, how one's “values and ideals” are determined, created, and shared, and in turn influence and be influenced by mankind.

The task of capturing a water droplet challenged the artist to find stillness within themselves. The precise measure of light, time, and reaction, provides a calm, repetitive, and almost meditative experience. In this way, the process of creating these visuals was both healing and spiritual for Aziz.
