It’s Tough to See the Road Ahead , 2020
20 x 16 in (h x w)
Oil on canvas

Artist Statement: For many years, Patricia Hilton has enjoyed plein air painting—the challenge of it, and the presence it requires. She often paints outdoors, yet also enjoys studio and figurative work. “Whatever elements initially strike me become the focus of a painting, as I explore various methods to create textures or colors to further convey that focus. I strive to keep my work fresh and lively; and to remain present to opportunity.”

Patricia received her BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati and MFA from Indiana State University. She has participated several times in Mountain Maryland Plein Air; and has participated in group, two-person, and one-person shows in the mid-Atlantic region. She is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and the Pastel Society of America.

Artist description: When fog descended on this mountain road, I felt a sense of mystery, uncertainty…trepidation. This resonated for me—feeling the isolation of that time.
