DHL Express Ireland and the FAI firmly believe that nobody should be excluded from football. That’s why we have come together to offer unique football experiences to young Irish fans suffering with illness, injury or incapacitation through the DHL x FAI BEAM Robot. Teaming up with Children’s Health Foundation in Ireland we are able to identify football children that otherwise would not be able to experience the joy of live sport. Via Roisin (the Robot – pronounced Ro-sheen) a child can visit a stadium, attend a match, a training session and even meet their heroes. The robot is equipped with software that allows real interaction with the robot becoming the mouth, eyes, and ears of the young fan.

Launch – we were able to exclusively attend the male senior team training session where football fan Simon was able to look on from the side-line after meting and chatting to his football heroes as they arrived for the training session.

Name the Robot – we used our social media accounts to let Irish football fans name the robot and ran a competition over all platforms where the winner received tickets to an Ireland game and a signed jersey. The name chosen was Roisin.

At the Ireland v Ukraine match on June 8th we were granted access to the tunnel for ‘Paul’ who is currently on a long stay in hospital got to meet the both teams as they arrived for the game. Roisin was positioned just as the players exited the bus so they stopped and chatted to ‘Paul’ as they went to the changing room. After this Roisin was moved to the side-line where ‘Paul’ got to see the Irish team warm up right next to him and enjoyed some interaction with the mascot and people that passed by.
